Chapainawabganj-- – Although government earns crores of Taka in revenue annually, Sona Mosque LC Station, country’s most important land port remained neglected over the years. In last 10 years, sources said, the government has earned Tk 270 crore in revenue from this station but did not take any pragmatic step for its infrastructure development. Warehouse, a most important infrastructure of this land port for the preservation of export-import commodities, could not be set up over the years, locals said. Local exporters and importers alleged that due to want of warehouse most of their items are to keep unprotected in the station causing extensive damage to it. With a view to preserve the commodities they have set up some small-size godowns by their own initiative in the area. But space of these godowns is not sufficient to accommodate all the goods, they said. Meanwhile, a vested quarter has already occupied some portions of land of this LC station illegally. Local businessmen alleged that the case filed against the illegal occupation of land is moving at snail’s pace due to the negligence of the concerned authorities. Local traders urged authority to take steps to set up a warehouse and solve all other hurdles of this prospective LC station without further delay. |
